#NZWF22 Pitch

General Info

Pitch submissions for #NZWF22 are open 1 July – 31 August.

Submission Info

This year’s Pitch is expanded from our editions to date. We’ll run a prep session and a rehearsal to offer support and feedback, and we plan to have a larger number of judges. As in previous years, we’ve got $2000 in cash prizes to hand out.

Things to note:

  • We’re a series fest, and accept pitches for series concepts only: no standalone short, mid-length or feature ideas – however good they are! Ideas can be for animated or live action, factual or fictional, but not experimental.
  • Pitch ideas must be new – so no pitches for shows which have already released, and no pitches for subsequent seasons of a show that’s released. (We will accept pitches for a spin-off show from a show that has released.)
  • Finalists will have 2 minutes to pitch, including any video material, followed by 5 minutes for comments and questions from judges.
  • There’s no fee to make a submission to Pitch but, if you’re selected as a finalist, a member of your team (ideally the person who’ll pitch) must attend the prep session.
  • You’re welcome to submit more than one project, but please make each project a separate submission. Please note we’re unlikely to select more than one project from the same creator.

Here are the important dates, all NZ time (UTC+13hours):

  • Submissions open: Friday 1 July
  • Submissions close: Wednesday 31 August
  • Finalists announced: Tuesday 20 September
  • Pitch prep session: Saturday 17 October
  • Rehearsals: Saturday 6 November
  • Finals: Saturday 13 November
